Improbably, It Works

A synthesis of Bukowski and Peanuts.

It began as a mistake.

The first time that Charles Branaski met Lucy Van Pelt, she was holding a football. He didn’t care for the game, baseball was his thing. Still, she held out that old football.

“Just kick the fucking thing,” she said.

“Listen, babe. You just hold that thing steady and I’ll kick the shit out of it.”

Heh-heh, it's a pretty good gag. Did you ever see Barfly? "It's not that I don't like people, Charlie Brown; I just seem to feel better when they're not around."

Did see Barfly, yes. Found Born Into This much more compelling. Apples and oranges, I know. At least there were sympathetic characters in the documentary...

For a lampoon, it's really not bad. Especially since it combines two things that have little overlap in the appreciative audience. I've been laughing about the tiny little assholes on snails all day, especially since it's been raining and there are tiny little snails everywhere. Presumably with leeeeetle bitty assholes.
