Salvia Divinorum

Salvia divinorum... Apparently, it's a hallucinogen which is not yet illegal, although we can expect it to be soon. "Anyone under the age of 20 knows about it and has heard about it," says some politican in Texas who wants it banned. I'm older than 20, which probably explains why I've never heard of it. Researchers are interested in its health benefits because it only targets one receptor in the brain, which is fairly uncommon. Given how these things seem to go, we'll probably learn in a week that it can cure AIDS, and then it will be promptly banned because it has the ''devastating side effect'' of making some people happy.

So, have any of you heard of this plant? Salvia means it's within the mint family and I think that it's essentially a sage. Is it just diviner's sage?

I tried it once about 12 years ago (before it was cool), but I did not manage to get it to "work." It is apparently quite tricky to get it hot enough to get the chemicals to vaporize so as to be an inhalant. Your usual drug store lighters will not typically suffice.

Salvia Divinorum is interesting in that it does not seed, which means hit has been reliant on humanity for a very long time to reproduce.

I'll tell you what IS an awesome drug... mescaline. Oh yeah.

Nutmeg is also supposed to get you high. I'm ashamed to admit I tried it, but it didn't really work.

Don't be ashamed- I knew people who snorted Fab fabric softener when I was a teenager.

I tried nutmeg once as well, but I can't be certain how much of what I experienced was due to it or the two hits of acid I took with it.

Yes, it's the same thing as diviner's sage.

And yeah, you need a torch-style lighter to get it hot enough.
