A Look at the Future from the Past Gets a New Future

Fritz Lang's classic Metropolis is a strange, meandering, frustrating, and totally visionary movie. Once you've seen it, the movie stays with you forever; yet parts of it feel slight and a bit thin. This could well be because an entire half-hour of the film has been missing since 1927, sliced off to make it more commercial with audiences.

Until now! They've found a complete copy of the film in Argentina and will release the full, uncut Metropolis on Blu Ray in the coming year. For movie geeks, this is like finding out there was another five or six chapters to Moby Dick that just turned up in someone's basement. Mindblowing.
