Thanks! I have to say it feels pretty good, and I'm not at all averse to the thought of doing more school, so overall I feel like the venture was a success.
Greg, don't we owe you the same joke like 14 times over?
And I have a question. Why do some PhD's get puffy hats and others the flat tops? Does anyone know the system behind the Harry Potter outfits?
Erm. At the moment I only have four degrees. There will be at least one more for my second Ph.D. in math and possibly two if I decide to collect that second M.S. in math. Holly has explicitly stated that if I go for a third Ph.D, she will divorce me so hard, that it will make my mortarboard spin.
Regarding graduation attire, I believe it varies from one university to the next. Some of them opt for the more medieval-looking doctoral accouterments and others use a slightly more elaborate of the basic configuration.
I'll let you know after I finish. Actually, I "just" need to write a second dissertation and take two more classes. The second dissertation should be extracted from my postdoc work and the classes... I'll figure that out.
They tell us that history PhDs tend to take 7-12 years for most people to complete. It sort of puts the kibosh on our plans to get a second one as soon as possible.

Hey, that's awesome!
Indeed! It's quite an accomplishment. Also, now one of us can work. ;)

How long does it take to complete a PhD in math?

It took me 4 years to get my first one after already having an MS. The fastest I have personally witnessed was 5 semesters.
