Glasses under Glass

Anyone want to guess whose glasses these might have once been?

A clue: he was Irish.

Ooh, ooh, is it James Joyce?

Why are you collecting photos of obscured elder paraphernalia? And where?

Ah weak, you beat me to it. I know that JJ had round lenses.

Yeah, I figured the Irish clue would give it away. I had considered giving 'Here Comes Everybody' as a clue, but figured you all would tell me to piss off.

They're pictures from the rare books room of our university's library. We have the largest Joyce collection in the world, strangely enough. Actually, the first thing I did when I came here was to make an appointment to read the Scribbledehobble notebook.

I've also taken pictures of some of the books, but I've got a bit of a thing for old tools, machines, and equipment.
