More Good News!

I just got my funding approved, so I'm going to Nantes this summer! Admittedly, I will be spending most of my time in the archives, but it's still great news! Also, I'm visiting Paris, which is even better news. Again, I won't be working on my tan. But, who cares? This is another one of the joys of academia, and it's like honey on the tongue.

Better be mentally prepared, it will take an act of extreme will in the way of self-discipline to keep yourself in the archives. All the same, congratulations.

Congratulations! What local goodies are available (food-wise, that is)?

I always choose travel destinations based on the cuisine. ANd sometimes history.

Lots of pictures from the archives? Ah HA!

Well, our plan is for me to do six weeks at the foreign affairs archives in Nantes, and then two weeks in Paris at the archives there. Then, once my funding is all accounted for, Claire is going to spend a few weeks with me in Paris. So, we will take pictures of that.

Hiromi,
I think there are local cheeses that are very good, and the bread is world-famous. I will report back on that.

You are a lucky man. How many people get to say they took their wives to Paris? Hope you and she enjoy it, I'm sure you will.

Oh yeah, we've been talking about it forever. I think we'd both like to live there one day.
