A Stupid Question about the Third World

Why do we still call it "The Third World"?

The Second World was the communist bloc, which seems to have become part of the First World, which was the democratic capitalist countries.

But, of course, the Second World is now gone.

So, the Third World is really only one of two worlds, and as it develops economically actually becomes part of the First World. Shouldn't we just call it First World Lite or something?

I think it's just force of habit myself. I guess though you could consider China and the other communist countries second world, or possibly the Islamic nations.
